7 Ways to Express Yourself at the 2024 Manchester Half
We’re asking everybody involved in the 2024 Manchester to express themselves on Sunday 13th October.
Need a little inspiration? We’ve put together seven ideas on how you can easily join in. Have others share them with us on social using #MCRHalf
1) ACCESSORISE YOUR LOOK
You may well want to take on your 13.1-mile challenge in your ‘usual’ running gear, but why not consider adding some little extras to your look for event day?
Pin badges could be a great way to add a subtle nod to your favourite things, or you could sew a badge onto your running kit. Other people have suggested they will be switching to special rainbow laces, wearing medals awarded to them for service, and creating a special event day hairband.

2) ROCK A BAND TEE OR SPORT A TEAM JERSEY
Whether it be your favourite indie band from the late-90s, a classic era Dolly Parton tour top, or a recent Harry Styles bit of merch, why not consider representing your favourite artist?
Other ways to show what you love could be a sports team kit, your local running club top, or why not stick on a retro finisher top?
3) WEAR YOUR BIB WITH PRIDE
Last year, we were the first major event to introduce hyper-personalised bibs. Numbered bibs have long been a mainstay of Half Marathons, but never have they expressed your personality in such a unique way. Thousands of you created a bespoke design, featuring your chosen messaging, background, and even emoji – and we have some exciting new features to add this year!
So, grab some safety pins and wear that beauty in a prominent position. Remember to keep it safe after as it makes an awesome memento of your achievement too!
🚨 ATTENTION RUNNERS! 🚨
The deadline to personalise your bib for the Manchester Half is Monday 19th August⏱️
Make sure to put your best bib forward and show us who you are with emojis, flags and more!🎽

4) SHOW YOUR CAUSE
Thousands of you are running to raise vital funds for charity. Make sure you sport something showing who you are running for so people can support you.
Many others will not be fundraising this time but might want to support a cause that is close to them or feel is important. Use this moment in front of thousands of people to get your message out there.
5) STRIP BACK AND BE YOURSELF
We are so proud that you have chosen to take part in the Manchester Half.
If you feel adding something to your look is the right approach for you, why not show off what makes you unique, we’d love to see who you really are. Less can sometimes be more. Get out your tattoos, go make-up free, or don’t shave for a while. There is no wrong way to do this!

6) CELEBRATE YOUR HEROES
This is a great chance to give a nod to your heroes and role models who have helped shape you you are. Whether it’s a photo in your back pocket or your favourite inspirational quote on your bib, celebrating your role models is empowering. You could even go all out with wig and tash like our girls below last year!
7) SUPPORT OTHERS
Whether you’re taking on the challenge, or beside the course cheering our heroes on, everybody is welcome to express themselves.
Some of our favourite things every year is reading your awesome homemade signs and meeting your four-legged friends. Maybe it’s time for little Luna the pooch to Express Herself and get a special Manchester Half look too?
