The Army Benevolent Fund
The Army Benevolent Fund is the Army’s national charity, here for soldiers, past and present, and their families for life. We stand at the forefront of support for the Army family, last year supporting 70,000 people in 45 countries around the world. As one of the largest funders in the sector, we award grants to individuals and families, and fund leading organisations that support soldiers, former soldiers, and their families. When we hear of a person or family in need, we aim to respond within 48 hours.
Bury Hospice opened its doors in June 1991 and the charity has helped thousands of people through some of the most difficult times in their lives with specialist, compassionate and palliative end-of-life care. Our focus and vision is to ensure all patients and families in Bury receive outstanding care during their palliative and end-of-life journey.
Duke of Edinburgh
We are here to empower young people; to support them as they learn new skills, overcome obstacles, and build confidence and resilience. Our goal is to give more than one million young people the chance to participate in our life-changing programmes, over the next five years, including young people who simply couldn’t afford to take part without your support.
Be part of something special and join our 2024 Manchester Half Marathon team! Your support ensures our family of ten NHS hospitals, clinical services and local care organisations can go above and beyond for our patients. With your help we enable the purchase of state-of-the-art equipment for diagnosis and treatment, fund pioneering medical research to improve our understanding of illnesses and how best to treat them, and create welcoming, friendly environments that allow patients, and their families, to feel at ease during their time of care.
Forever Manchester is the only charity that raises money to fund and support community activity across Greater Manchester. Year in year out we support over 1,300 community projects benefitting over 40,000 people. We support local people who give their time, resources, connections and skills to take care of each other and their surroundings to make a lasting difference. We believe that connected communities make stronger, happier communities, so we love any activity that brings people together.
The Mustard Tree
Mustard Tree combats poverty and prevents homelessness. We are a Greater Manchester charity that creates opportunities for people and communities to help themselves through providing practical support, life skills and connections into work. We provide food, clothing, furniture and other essentials alongside crisis support, courses, classes and training, all in the same buildings. This wrap-around approach gives people the dignity, confidence, and tools they need to build themselves back up. We have done this for 30 years.
Nordoff & Robbins Music Therapy
Nordoff and Robbins is the UK’s largest music therapy charity, with a unique approach shaped by more than 60 years of practice. Through the power of music, it breaks through the barriers caused by life-limiting illness, disability and social isolation. The charity does this through providing music therapy to people across the UK, whilst also training the music therapists of the future and funding research to measure and improve the impact of its work.
Together we will find a cure and improve life for the Parkinson’s community. We’re close to major breakthroughs. Funding the right research into the most promising treatments, we get closer to a cure every day. Until then, we’re here for everyone affected by Parkinson’s. Fighting for fair treatment and better services. People with Parkinson’s, scientists and supporters, fundraisers and families, carers and clinicians, all working side by side. We’ll find a cure. Together.
The Ricky Casey Trust
Founded in 2020, The Ricky Casey Trust seeks to advance the knowledge, education and research into rare renal cancers in the UK, particularly Renal Medullary Carcinoma (RMC). We aim to improve awareness amongst the general public and healthcare professionals treating renal cancer, fund vital research, and provide equipment and treatment to help preserve the health of people suffering from RMC and other rare renal cancers. We also provide support to those who are suffering from these diseases and their families.
Run for Charity
Run for Charity work with thousands of charities all over the UK. If you have a particular cause you’d like to run for, there is a good chance they are here, and they would love your support!
Home is a human right. It’s our foundation and it’s where we thrive. Yet, every day millions of people are being devastated by the housing emergency. Shelter believes everyone should have a home. More than one million people a year come to us for advice and support via our website, helplines and national network of services. Run the Manchester Half Marathon with Team Shelter and join us in ending the devastating impact the housing emergency has on people and our communities.
