Below you’ll find two handy maps to help you plan your day. The first shows how to access Bag Drop and make your way to the Start on event morning.
The second helps you choose a meeting point for friends and family in the Event Village, and shows which Exit Point (Gate 5 or 15) to use depending on your transport plans after the event.
You’ll also find more information below on how Bag Drop works on event day.
Although a bag drop is available, we recommend leaving belongings with family or friends where possible to avoid queues.
If you do need to use it then the bag drop is located in the Event Village. Look out for signage and our helpful volunteers inside Lancashire Cricket Club that can help direct you towards it on the day.
- We suggest you arrive at least 30 minutes before your wave’s Start Access time.
- Only one small bag is permitted (e.g. a small rucksack or small sports bag).
- When you arrive at bag drop you can join any queue – they are not linked to your bib number or name.
- Make sure all items are packed into your bag before reaching the front of the queue.
- Handover your bag and you’ll be given a numbered wristband to wear. Keep this wristband on you as you’ll need to show it when you come back. The number will not correspond to your bib number.
- After you have finished your 13.1 mile challenge please return to the same queue (if you can’t remember which letter you queued at then check your wristband!), show your wristband when you reach the front, and your bag will be returned to you.

How many bags can I leave at bag drop?
- You will only be allowed one small bag per participant
What size bag can I leave at bag drop?
- Only small bags will be allowed (e.g. rucksack or small sports bag). No large bags or luggage.
How does bag drop work?
- As you hand in your bag you will receive a numbered wristband to collect your bag, unrelated to your bib number.
Bag drop tips:
- Ensure all belongings are in your bag before reaching the front of the queue.
- To avoid queues, consider leaving items with a supporter or at your accommodation.
Please wear a top you want to donate to charity to keep you warm - keep wearing this until the end of the start chute where you will see signs to show you where to donate it as you get close to the start gantry - please don’t drop it too early!
When your donated pre-loved items are sold in their stores or marketplaces, you help keep products in use for longer making more use of the energy and resources used to make the
Dedicated bins will be provided for recycling and General Waste around the venue in Lancashire Cricket Club. Please look at the signs on each bin to determine what should be thrown in each type so that we can ensure as much waste as possible is recycled from the event.
Greater Manchester Police will be deploying specially-trained officers as part of Project Servator to enhance security measures already in place at Manchester Half. They will deploy at sites around the event footprint as preparations get underway and during the event weekend itself. Officers will work with event organisers, security and the public to help keep people safe throughout.
Some of these officers may be in plain clothes and are trained to spot the tell-tale signs that a person may be conducting hostile reconnaissance – the information-gathering terrorists and other criminals need to do to plan their criminal activity.
They can turn up at anytime and anywhere so please don’t be surprised if you see them. Officers may be supported by other specialist assets such as search dogs, mounted officers and firearms officers.

It’s all about helping to ensure that everyone involved is safe and secure, and to make life difficult for criminals who may seek an opportunity to commit crime.
We will continue to work with Greater Manchester Police and other security organisations throughout planning and on the day of the event to ensure the event runs smoothly and to keep people safe.
