Elites ready to join 15,000 runners this Sunday

We’re delighted to welcome a number of elite athletes this Sunday, to take part alongside 15,000 others.

In the women’s race, previous GB vest wearing, Lily Partridge, who holds a PB of 70:31, will face fierce competition from 2019 50km world champion and former Olympian Aly Dixon.

Joining them will be Eleanor Kirk, former Welsh athlete at the Commonwealth Games and Jip Vastenburg, both of whom are part of the New Balance Manchester Squad, a professional running team based in South Manchester. We will also be joined by an Olympic gold medallist, but this one is unlikely to trouble the winners podium. Dani Rowe, who picked up a track cycling gold in 2012, will be taking part.

Ben Connor, previous GB representative at the most recent World Championship in Doha in September will battle it out in the men’s race against Andrew Davis, former Welsh Commonwealth athlete, and Nigel Martin, who holds a PB of 64:10.

In the wheelchair race, last years winner Eden Rainbow-Cooper is returning to defend her title, alongside 2019 Manchester Marathon finishers Matthew Clarke and Sean Frame.

Prize money is awarded to the top 3 overall elite athletes, British elite athletes and wheelchair athletes, with the overall winner of the elite race taking home a tasty £1000.

The elite wheelchair race will begin at 8:55, with the other elites starting at 9:00. Follow live updates from around the event, including the elite winners, by visiting www.mcrhalf.co.uk this Sunday
