Cancellation FAQs

Following the cancellation of the 2020 Manchester Half Marathon on Sunday 11th October, we realise you might have some additional questions. You can find the answers to some of the most common here:

Can somebody else run in my place?

You are able to transfer your entry to somebody else if you don't want to/are unable to join us next October. This can be completed via your online entry portal.

To access your account, follow this link or copy and paste it into your browser https://myevents.active.com/. Once logged in, scroll to find the Manchester Half Marathon event and select ‘Transfer Registration’. You will then be required to input the new participants email address. Once you select to transfer your entry to another person, they will receive an email to accept the transfer. The new participant needs to complete the registration process, including payment of the full entry fee at the time of registration. Once this has been completed, the original participant will receive a refund of their entry fee, less the £10 transfer fee.

Can I donate my entry fee to charity?

If you are unable to take part in 2021 but would like to donate your entry fee to one of our charity partners please click here. Please note this means we will not defer your place to 2021 and instead of receiving a refund your entry fee will go directly to your chosen charity. Thank you so much for your support.

As this is a manual process we will need to be notified about your request to donate your entry fee to charity by Wednesday 29th July 2020, if this is the option you wish to select.
Can I get a refund instead?

In light of the extraordinary circumstances, we are not going to enforce our rights under the terms and conditions in our contract (which state no refund payable), and will be offering a refund instead, minus a small (£5) administration fee.

As this is a manual process we will need to be notified about your refund by Wednesday 29th July 2020, if this is the option you wish to select. The remainder of your original entry fee (minus your admin fee and any original booking fee) will be returned to you by the end of August 2020.

You will need your registration ID for this which can be found at the top of your cancellation email
 
Each registrant will need to complete their own refund request irrespective of who paid for the entry.
 
Please note that once you have completed the request, you will receive a receipt email and confirmation email which will show a £0.00 transaction - do not worry about this as this is just indicative of your request, we will be returning your entry fee by the end of August 2020.
I'm in a relay team, what happens with my team?
If you want to defer to the April 2021 event, you do not need to do anything. You can add/remove runners in your team via your Active timeto  account as normal. 
 
If you want to choose a refund or donate your entry fee to charity, the captain must select this option. Team members are not required to do anything, and we will cancel their registrations as well. 
Can I take part in the event virtually/remotely?

After careful consideration we have decided not to offer this as a direct replacement for the 2020 Manchester Half Marathon, and will be focusing on delivering the full experience on Sunday 10th October 2021. 

What if I had taken a charity place?

If you were running for one of our official charities and associate charities, and had taken a place from them, you will still have the option to defer to 2021. If you would no longer like to take this place for your charity, you must select the refund option linked here and contact your charity to make them aware as well.

What will be different about next year's Half Marathon?

At this stage we are still working out exact details, but we are fully expecting it to be the same incredible experience that we had planned, including our fantastic flat course, and famously friendly atmosphere. 

Following government guidelines, we are of course considering social distancing measures, health and safety protocols and any additional measure to guarantee the safety of our participants.

What happens to the Premium Package I bought?

Any packages you purchased for the Manchester Half Marathon on Sunday 11th October, will remain valid should you transfer your entry to 2021.  If you want to be refunded, each part of your bundle has a different process, see below for the process for each item.

What Happens to the Personalised Medal Insert (iTab) I bought?

Your iTAB medal personalisation will be transferable to the 2021 event, any other event run by us or any other running event worldwide.  For further information contact info@mysportingtimes.com.

What Happens to the Merchandise I have bought?

You may have already received your item, for some this may still be on the way.  Our normal returns policy applies, and you have a 14 day window from receipt of your goods within which you can return your product to us for a full refund. Please note that only unused products in original packaging can be returned. Finisher Hoodies will be carried over to 2021 event, or refunded depending on customer new entry choice.

What happens to the Photo bundle I bought?

AWOL Adventure are third party photography platform. Your pre-order photography bundle with AWOL Adventure will automatically be transferred to the 2021 Manchester Half Marathon. Alternatively, if you do not wish to use on this event, you will be able to apply for a credit note from AWOL for use on another event.
